Working as part of a team, the Transcript Coordinator is responsible for the smooth and efficient management of transcription orders, from the point of the customer’s initial query through to transcript production and invoicing.


  • Dealing with correspondence received through email, post, or telephone.
  • Providing transcription quotes to clients.
  • Reviewing the transcription requisitions (usually made via court form EX107), inputting the information on the database, and requesting further information where required.
  • Liaising with the court in relation to requests for the audio recording of the relevant court hearing.
  • Checking content and quality of the audio recording.
  • Liaising with clients on non-court-related recordings, including requests for further information and payment requests.
  • Dealing with transcriber queries.
  • Quality review of draft transcript in line with quality standards.
  • Liaising with court officers, including judges and clerks, in relation to transcript approval (where required).
  • Delivery of completed transcript to the client.
  • Regular diary management of caseload.
  • Updating the database as the case progresses.

  • Adherence to internal and external service standards.

  • Understanding of the litigation process, particularly the stages of a hearing/trial.
  • Understanding of the rules relating to reporting restrictions on certain transcripts.
  • Treating customers fairly.

Person Specification

  • The ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people at all levels (Communication Skills).
  • Ability to work within and meet strict service levels (Time Management).
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently (Prioritisation).
  • Commitment and ability to work with those within their own team and to collaborate, where necessary, with other areas of the business (Teamwork).
  • A record of maintaining high-quality standards in the area of work (Quality Management).
  • Knowledge of the legal industry and the court process is not essential.
